Thank You to Three Dimes Down and the HeAthens Community!
The 21st Annual Drive-By Truckers HeAthens Homecoming ended in the wee hours of Monday morning, April 11th, as the band careened through the final notes of their cover of Jim Carroll’s “People Who Died.” After the heart-breaking cancellation of 2021’s Homecoming and the frustrating three month postponement of 2022, the Truckers were able to finally take the stage and put the world right for a few days.
The Drive-By Truckers fan community, centered primarily around the Three Dimes Down internet forum, uses the Homecoming week as an opportunity to fundraise for Nuçi’s Space. The Truckers have always been vocal supporters of our mission, and their fanbase has raised an incredible amount of money to help Nuçi’s Space pay for mental health care for the creative people in our community.
We’ve had a week to tally everything up, and this year's final number is $63,099.81! This is an astonishing number! Money was raised through a combination of online auctions for poster art and handwritten lyrics, sales of a DVD of previous Homecoming shows, a silent auction hosted here at Nuçi’s Space, Facebook birthday donations, sales of beer, baked goods and barbecue, and direct donations from Three Dimes Down members and vendors.
Every dollar of these donations will go towards furthering our mission of subsidizing mental health care for Athens musicians.
Nuçi’s Space would like to thank the entire Three Dimes Down community, the @drivebytruckers , @hanginghillsbrewing, @barronsrental, @cpbbq, and the hundreds of people who came to Athens to make this week so special.
We'd especially like to thank our friend Dave Chamberlin, who helped coordinate all of this. Dave was a huge part of pulling all of this together and we are super grateful to have him on our team.
