ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS
The aim of our youth programs is to support the mission of Nuçi’s Space by focusing on serving young musicians in our community. Starting in the summer of 2007, Nuçi’s Space took advantage of an opportunity to reach out to middle and high school musicians and created a summer outreach program called Camp Amped. Since those early days, Camp Amped has blossomed into a full suite of programs that provide creative young people with a safe learning environment where they can be vulnerable and authentic while developing musical skills in a band setting.
Camp Amped is more than just a music camp. Our instructors work with the campers to not only provide the tools and knowledge to be competent musicians, but also with the skills and the opportunities for them to learn how to be effective communicators, aware leaders, and good people.
SO, WHO IS CAMP FOR?
Camp is for Everyone. Our programs are designed to be able to accommodate any level of musician at a range of different ages.
The 2 Week Summer Session of our flagship program Camp Amped is for 6th through rising 12th graders. These sessions are for students who are comfortable enough with their musical ability to play in 2 bands with peers of all ages. Coming to Nuçi’s Space for an informal musical interview, or submitting a video is required for these sessions of camp. More information on that can be found here.
Camp Amped After School and The Summer Half Day Sessions are perfect for 6th through rising 12th graders who are curious about camp and playing music with their peers, but might feel a little bit intimidated about a full 2 week program. These sessions are always a blast with bands coming together around a specific theme or genre of covers. There is no interview or video submission requirement for these sessions of camp.
Sound Check, our intermediate level camp, is for 5th, 6th and 7th graders who are brand new to playing music in a band setting but maybe have some experience with their instrument. This is a great next step in our programs if your student has participated in the Pre-Amped Program or if they are less experienced on their instrument.
The Mikey Houser Pre-Amped Music Program is for young 4th and 5th grade musicians with no experience but a curiosity for music and desire to try something new. We hold this free of charge music education program at the Boys and Girls club and other locations around the Athens Community.
