AMPLIFY Recording Studio

Amplify is a professional recording studio located inside of Nuçi’s Space, a musicians’ resource and mental health nonprofit in Athens GA.

  • The opportunity for Nuçi’s Space to offer recording services to the Athens community began with a donation of recording studio equipment and fixtures by Ryan and Jill Kelly of Mule Train Records in 2015. Under the guidance of then-employee and freelance studio engineer Chris Byron, Nuçi’s Space opened Amplify recording studio in February 2017. Its first location was in the former PigPen Recording Studio at the Oneta Warehouses in Athens, GA.

Following a three-year fundraising campaign, Nuçi’s Space completed a new construction project in 2020 at our current site that included a permanent space for a dedicated recording studio that is now the new home for Amplify.

Amplify is an extension of the work we have invested into our music community since 2000. Our vision for this program is to use Amplify as a community space, as a teaching tool to expand our Camp Amped Programs, and to provide an opportunity for young musicians to experience their first recording sessions at a discounted price.

We chose the name Amplify, intending to “amplify” the mission of Nuçi’s Space to other communities. We hope that the musicians and engineers who help us build this program will be the storytellers and teachers who plant the seeds for healthy communities beyond Athens, GA.

COMMUNITY ENGINEER PROGRAM

The focus of Amplify's Community Engineer Program is to create a network of engineers and artists. We provide the opportunity to creatives in our community to work in a professional and welcoming studio environment at an affordable price. Community engineers can rent out our studio space to record their own clients, while being a part of a network that includes Amplify customers and other engineers.

Through our application process, we will review candidates interested in becoming Nuçi’s Space-approved Community Engineers. Once reviews are complete, the engineer will be invited to an in-person studio orientation, held monthly or on an as-needed basis. We hope that the musicians and engineers who help us build this program will become the storytellers and teachers planting the seeds for healthy communities in Athens, GA and beyond.
